DIY Mini Gardens That Grow Inside Your Favorite Seashells

These shells remind me of the little hermit crab that lived in a shell that I brought home from the beach one day when I was six. I put him in a bowl of tap water, and he died a brutal death. I learned the hard way that saltwater animals can’t survive in the water we drink. Mother Nature is a mad scientist, and our ecosystem is very fragile in so many ways.

If you are like me, and you have trouble keeping plants alive (or hermit crabs), you might like these DIY shell planters for succulent plants like cacti, aloe, and many bulbs and roots. Since there is no green thumb required, this is a very cute way to repurpose seashells and keep some green alive in the space around you.

Snail shells work well since they have some depth to them so you can fit the soil inside. Succulents are the perfect plant for these since they don’t require much water, so you can get away with keeping them in this tiny planter.
