A lot of times people ask me if I have a personal blog. I always just direct them here. Bit Rebels is not a personal blog per se; however, to me it kind of is. The reason I say that is because for both Misty and me, we chronicle our lives here. For example, if I’m hungry, I write about food. If I’m playing on my iPhone, I write about apps. If I’m working hard on a project, I write about technology. And last but not least, if I’m traveling, I write about that too. I’ve done it so many times, and it’s a lot of fun.
Since I will be leaving in a few days to travel to Shanghai, China for the Black Card Circle charity event, I went on a hunt for an interesting tidbit about Shanghai to share with you today. I found something really unique and unusual, which you know I love, so I hope you like it too! Chinese contemporary artist Song Dong, a few assistant food artists, and a whole bunch of volunteers created this edible replica of the city of Shanghai recreated in bakery sweets.
This creation was part of Song Dong’s “Eating the City” series. He has already created edible replicas of seven other cities, including Barcelona and London. As you can see in the photographs below, his Shanghai masterpiece was huge! It was made from wafers, biscuits, cookies and candy. A few months ago when he unveiled this to the world, he invited visitors to take a piece to eat, so it was quickly disassembled. I don’t know very much about Shanghai’s landmarks (yet), but apparently this build contained replicas of all of them. This is one food build that I wish I could have seen up close!
