This is an official cute alert! How fun would it be to go to the beach and walk in wet sand leaving animal footprints (or would that be pawprints) behind? Super fun, right? That’s what I’m saying, which is why I’m bummed that these sandals are only made for kids. I wonder if I can squeeze my foot into them. Hmm…
These Japanese sandals, called Ashiato Sandals, come in five different animal footprint styles. You can choose a cat, an owl, a monkey, a gecko or a zaurus (which is apparently a dinosaur). I personally think a Bigfoot design would be fun, but I suppose the orange monkey will have to do.
As you can see, these sandals are made out of wood, and they look a little uncomfortable, but then again, that wood probably works well when walking in squishy sand. These were created by an interior design firm called Kiko+, and the execution of the design is just wonderful. They remind me of spending the summers at my Grandma’s house on the beach at Hilton Head Island when I was a little girl. I love everything about these, well, except that they don’t come in my size. You can pick up a pair here for around 2,750 Yen, which equates to around $34.
