Image Resizing Made Easy!

Image selection is important for bloggers. The image you choose for a particular post can bring so much more appeal to your article. That is a lesson I learned from @Minervity. I also learned that image resizing is really important as it has a bearing on how fast it will load once you have published your article.

The best tool to use for image resizing and optimizing is Adobe Photoshop. However, for a lot of people I know, that application might not be readily available for them.  If you are one of them, then the tools below might just be the one you are looking for. They are all easy to use and is readily available online. We, at Bit Rebels, believe in empowering our readers with options. We hope that the tools mentioned below are helpful to you.

Smush.it – Smush.it uses optimization techniques specific to image format to remove unnecessary bytes from image files. It is a “lossless” tool, which means it optimizes the images without changing their look or visual quality. After Smush.it runs on a web page, it reports how many bytes would be saved by optimizing the page’s images and provides a downloadable zip file with the minimized image files.

Adobe PhotoShop ExpressDo basic edits to your photos, such as cropping, rotating, adjusting color, or applying filters.

Reshade – With Reshade you can resize images online or offline maintaining image quality (edge and texture). If you’ve ever wanted to have a picture as a wallpaper and it didn’t fit, or maybe create an avatar from a part of an image, you might find reshade very helpful.

ResizR – is a nifty, free and very useful little helper. ResizR allows you to resize an image from your local computer or the web.

Rszr – Rsizr is a Flash application that lets you resize JPG, PNG, and GIF images on your computer. With rsizr, in addition to normal image rescaling and cropping, you can also resize images using a new image resizing algorithm called seam carving that tries to keep intact areas in your image that are richer in detail.
