Ketchup Can Transform Ordinary People Into Superheroes

Although I’m not a fan of minimalist design, that doesn’t mean I don’t like super simple illustrations and graphics. The simplest designs with a geek flavor are usually my favorites, and these are a perfect example. This reminds me of Popeye the sailor man. The television version of the Popeye cartoon was before my time, but I still remember watching the reruns and seeing Popeye eat his can of spinach and then transform into a superhero. He might not have been considered an actual superhero back then, but by today’s standards, that’s what he was.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could turn into superheroes by eating something just like Popeye? I could see a whole movie just based on that. It would have to be something we like to eat though, not boring old spinach. How about ketchup? That sounds good to me. Viola Trentin, an artist from Italy, created this little series called Heinz Tomato Ketchup – Only For Real Superheroes. It shows what can happen to an ordinary person when he or she eats this Heinz ketchup with a kick. And, as an added bonus, now we know how the Red Hulk became red.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a real Heinz advertising campaign. Viola created these for her school project. With as much attention as they are getting though, I hope she got an A+. I wish these were real ads because they make me really want to try this ketchup. If Heinz picked this up, they could even put a label on the ketchup which reads, “only for superheroes.” I’m sure it would be a huge success, don’t you think? I know I would buy it. Now if I can just find a way to become a superhero by eating ice cream. Hmm… You can learn more about Viola by checking out her Behance page.
