Ketchup Dipping Cup: A Brilliant New Way To Eat Ketchup

Sometimes the simplest, most obvious designs are the best ones, and this is one of them. Up until today, I thought this Ketchup Fountain was the best way to eat ketchup. What could be better than watching ketchup flow from a fountain like pure water onto your burger and fries? Every time I look at it, I want to plan a party just so I can have an excuse to buy one of those along with a ton of Mickey D’s French fries. Unfortunately, that ketchup fountain might not be very practical for everyday use, but this innovative ketchup dipping cup is.

When you are at McDonald’s, or any fast food restaurant, and when you want to create a little dipping station for your fries, how do you do it? Do you squeeze the ketchup out of those little packets and onto a napkin? Do you put it on the plastic lid from your soda or the tray liner on the restaurant tray itself? I’ve squirted it onto all three of those things, and now that I think about it, that’s kind of gross. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a designated ketchup dipping cup that wouldn’t require an additional piece of plastic or paper to throw in the garbage can?

Designers Bae Su-kyoo and Noh Haeun have come up with a brilliant little design that will take care of this without creating any more waste. By simply making a small modification to the already existing drink lid, they make what they call a dipping cover which is a little dipping well where you can squirt the ketchup without any mess or inconvenience. You can even eat ketchup on the go now, which as you know, in the past has been a big challenge. Some fast food restaurants have little paper cups specifically for ketchup, and this design would completely eliminate the need for those. Chances are, this won’t become a reality, but I sure wish it would! I think it’s a great idea.

Would you eat ketchup from your cup lid? I would.
