What do you do with your shoelaces? I usually put mine in my gym shoes and lace them up. This artist uses them to make murals that are about six feet (1.8 meters) tall. That’s not unusual, right? Heck yes it is, but after all the bizarre artwork we’ve seen over the years on Bit Rebels, nothing really surprises me anymore. Seriously, we’ve featured the most bizarre stuff you’ve ever seen.
Just recently, we showcased a huge cherry blossom tree painting made out of cupcakes and an extraordinary portrait made from 750 pairs of socks. And, those two things don’t even scratch the surface of what are probably hundreds of articles about unusual, fantastic, bizarre yet brilliant art on this site.
Artist Federico Uribe created these portraits using colored shoelaces which he pinned down to a board. When you look at these from a distance, they look like brushstrokes from a paintbrush. I can’t even imagine how someone could pick up a pile of shoelaces and do this with it. I wish I knew how long it took him to create each one of these, and where he gets his inspiration. I also wish I could see one of these in person. Can you imagine viewing a 6 foot tall portrait made from shoelaces? That’s definitely not something you see everyday. If you check out his website at Federico Uribe, you’ll see that shoelaces aren’t the only unusual material he uses in his artwork.
