Moveo: The Portable, Foldable Electric Scooter That Rolls Like Luggage

With the direction design seems to be headed lately, it seems like a lot more than just our devices and apps are going mobile. We apparently want to take everything with us, including our houses. Yup, recently I wrote about a house big enough for 2 people that is portable and can fit on the back of a bicycle. Today I’d like to share another wild portable design. This is the foldable, electric scooter called the Moveo. I’ve never seen an electric scooter than can fold up like this.

This Moveo scooter actually folds up to look like a piece of luggage that you roll around. I can think of so many places around the world (and even here in the city of Atlanta) where this would be a perfect way to scoot around. This design by Antro Group took 5 years to complete. You would think this electric scooter would be heavy, but it only weighs 25 kilograms (55 pounds).

The Moveo only goes about as fast as a moped, or less (28 mph or 45 kmh) but the fact that it’s foldable and portable makes up for the lack of speed to me. This kind of eco-friendly transportation is inspiring to me. I would gladly ditch my car in favor of a Moveo. It would be fun to see these all over the city.

As of now, these aren’t available for purchase yet. The company is seeking investors to help them mass produce these little scooters. Until the day comes when they’re available, I guess we’ll just have to imagine what it would be like to roll our transportation around like a suitcase. Suddenly your car seems clunky, inefficient and bad for the environment, right? Yeah, I feel the same way.
