Sometimes I write about the most unusual things that make me want to lick stuff I wouldn’t normally lick. For example, I remember the time I wrote about the wallpaper that tastes like Jaffa Cakes (inspired by Willy Wonka). The thing is, in order to taste the vanilla and chocolate cookie yumminess, you have to actually lick the wallpaper. After dinner you could say, “excuse me while I lick my wallpaper for dessert.” Hey, I’d do it. This candy art on the floor is a similar concept, and even though it would be hard to resist, I don’t know if it would be a good idea to lick this.
These pictures of candy art come from several different floor installations created by the Australian duo known as Pip & Pop which is Nicole Andrijevic and Tanya Schultz. According to their website, these candy art displays are made with sugar, pigment, polystyrene, wax, modeling clay, paper, plastic, found objects (like little toys), wire, beads, pompoms, lights, plastic, paper, sound and whatever else they want to add to complete the fantasy fairytale look.
As you can see, this candy art is neon colored and it’s designed to look like little galaxies consisting of different worlds, all right there in candy art on the floor. I’m sure this all smells divine, and I’m also sure it would taste even better. Although, since this candy art has some non-edible components, it’s not for eating. The 5th picture below is definitely my favorite. It’s from a piece called “Three Minutes of Happiness” which they created in 2009. I would like to know how long these displays usually stay assembled, what exactly they are used for, how they get disassembled, and whether or not anyone has actually licked the floor to taste one. You can of course learn more about Pip & Pop on their website.
