NYC: Watch Day Turn Into Night All In One Photograph

New York City is such a beautiful place, especially at night. It’s similar to here in Atlanta where the night sky stays bright from all the lights, and there is never a shortage of interesting people and architecture to look at everywhere. A lot of photographers consider New York City to be a place with unlimited inspiration and photo opportunities, and I’ve written about New York City photography several times before. However, I’ve never written about or even seen anything like this. It’s definitely in a league of its own.

If you notice, in each one of these photographs, you can see day turning into night. It’s a spectacular effect, and the process photographer Stephen Wilkes goes through to get this look is truly incredible. According to Chelsea’s Clamp Art Gallery, In his series called “Day to Night,” Stephen takes pictures of a scene from the exact same perspective for at least ten hours. Then, he takes 30-50 different pieces from different photographs and weaves them together to create one photograph that looks like day is turning into night.

I remember when I wrote Thousands of Memories Mashed Into One which also shows photographs woven together. Those photos were pictures from tourists of famous monuments, which were fabulous, but these also combine the fabulous energy and colors of NYC.
