We’ve seen so many great tributes to Mario and company, and we’ve featured too many of them to even count. Whether they come in the form of videos, illustrations, wedding invitations, hats or even jewelry, we’ve seen it all, and each one is as inspiring as the next. In this particular tribute, artist Philippe Vallet created some Mario, Toad, Yoshi, etc. illustrations that make them look like they’ve been hanging out with Darth Vader’s posse.
These dark shadow designs are very well done, and I really like the way he plumped out each character’s features with wide lines and such a smooth design. I hope Philippe didn’t intend for these to look scary though because they don’t.
Regardless, that doesn’t take anything away from how awesome they are. I wonder what his inspiration was when he created these. They make me want to see a real Darth Vader and Super Mario Bros. mashup. I haven’t seen that before. If you know of one, please send it to me (my email address is below) so I can check it out and maybe feature it here on Bit Rebels. You can learn more about Philippe and see more of his fabulous art on Facebook. If you want to see more Mario, check out this pimped out Mario Bros. Fish Tank, and this beautiful Mario Graffiti Art.
