I realize this Lego installation was designed to entertain and teach children about animals, but I want to go check this out for myself! At the Bronx Zoo, next to their real-life counterparts, these Lego animals are displayed along with information about each one. For whatever reason, there is a Lego craze going on in the Bronx right now, and Lego installations are being set up in many public spaces. I’m so happy to see that. Here in my world, the Lego craze has been going on since I was a little girl, and it shows no signs of stopping. :)
These life-like and life-size pixilated animals make the zoo look like a Lego inspired African safari. It took the Lego designers about a month to build them all. The Bronx Zoo Director said, “It’s a good way to engage and educate kids about conservation while they’re having fun.” The best part is that the zoo also set up a Lego construction area where kids (and adults too I hope!) can practice using their own creativity by building animals themselves with Lego bricks.
If you would like to be part of the Lego magic at the Bronx Zoo, you’ll have to plan a trip soon. This installation will only be displayed until September 30th. Just a few days ago when I wrote Spectacular New York City Photography [10 Pics], I wrote that I was ready to plan my next trip to New York City. This Lego exhibit just confirms it. It’s time to go! I normally stay in Tribeca which is in Lower Manhattan. I wonder how far away that is from The Bronx. I think it’s really close, I’ll have to look that up.
