How many times have you been at home and needed to write a quick note, but you couldn’t find a pencil anywhere? I prefer a pencil to a pen, but regardless of how many I buy and bring into my home, it seems I can never find one when I need it.
When I look at this creative chair made out of pencils, all I keep thinking is how cool it would be to sit on it and reach down to grab one of those pencils whenever it’s needed, then simply put it back. It’s like the mother of all pencil holders.
I doubt Singapore designer, Anon Pairot, thought of that when he created this chair. He seems way more sophisticated than that. This chair is a dinsor, or piece of furniture influenced by the art of our daily lives. We use our pencils to draw and sketch often, so why not create a beautifully artistic piece of furniture from the very tool we use to make everyday art? It makes sense to me. In order to make this, Anon had to use metal pins to hold together hundreds of pencils. The shape of the chair is dictated by the randomness of the pencils themselves. The real question is, is this chair strong enough to sit on? As you see below, he also created a pencil lampshade.
