This Is What Walls Covered In One Million Flowers Looks Like

Too bad we can’t smell these flowers. If there was ever a way to do a scratch-n-sniff article, I’d want to do it on this one. I while back I wrote about a Field Of 3 Billion Tulips. It’s a tourist attraction in Holland, which is where most of the world’s tulips are grown. The problem with looking at pictures of 3 billion flowers is that, well, it’s 3 billion flowers. Although it’s magnificent, you can’t see the individual flowers because there are just so many to see. It’s almost overwhelming.

If you’ve always wanted to see what a bunch of flowers looks like, I have a much more manageable amount to show you today. Instead of 3 billion flowers, how about one million?

As silly as it sounds, that amount is much more inspiring and beautiful to me because you can see the flowers so much better. Thanks to creative director Raf Simons, the Christian Dior Autumn/Winter 2012 Couture Show was decorated with one million flowers which were spread out into 5 separate rooms. Each room focused on a particular color, which added to the dramatic effect. The team that put this together used blue delphiniums, white orchids, pink peonies and lots of colored roses. Wow, I can only imagine how wonderful these rooms must have smelled. I bet these flowers stole the show. If I had been there, I wouldn’t have even looked at the clothes, I’d just want to check out the flowers. You can read more about this even on the NYT.
