Old Water Tower Renovated Into To-Die-For Bachelor Pad

How would you like to live in a stunning old water tower that’s been renovated into the ultimate 6-story bachelor pad with an indoor swimming pool (which was made from part of the water reservoir that was left exposed on the ground floor) and breathtaking views? At night, it looks like a giant glowing lantern sitting in the middle of a huge forest. There is even a winter garden on the roof. Would it be worth it to live in this concrete cylinder structure to have one of the most unique homes in your country? I would say yes.

This was once an active water tower in Antwerp, Belgium. After it wasn’t used anymore, it took 17 years to renovate it into this fabulous to-die-for home. The glass is only semi-transparent, so even though in these pictures it looks like everyone would be able to see into your home, it really offers more privacy than that. All the sunlight can shine inside though, which makes it even better.

Award-winning Belgian architect, Jo Crepain from Crepain Binst Architecture, was the man responsible creating this historic water tower apartment which is now called Woning Moereels. He has since passed away, but he left this elegant legacy behind for everyone in Belgium to enjoy. There are a tremendous number of stairs in this home which go up to the 6th floor, which would be some great exercise!

As it turns out, creating a living space from old water towers isn’t as odd as it may sound. I found an article on Flavorwire called 10 Industrial Water Towers Converted Into Modern Homes which you might enjoy. I’m trying to decide which I like better…This water tower apartment in Belgium or this clock tower apartment in New York City. One thing is for sure, both of them make my “regular house” look so boring!
