People often moan that smartphones are damaging our social interactions. So, with that in mind, what better way to prove them wrong by getting social again… with multi-player app games on your phone! Below, we’ll run through five of the best app games that you can play with friends across multiple devices.
To start us off is Words with Friends, which is effectively the modern-day equivalent of Scrabble. The app game has received multiple references on hit TV show, Big Bang Theory, with Sheldon Cooper, often berating his “friend” Stephen Hawking’s lack of sportsmanship on the app.
As well as being a great deal of fun – and an entertaining way to get competitive with your chums – Words with Friends is also a useful tool if you’re looking to expand your vocabulary. It’s purely “educational” if anyone asks.
However, if you’re on the lookout for a no-nonsense high-octane thrill, then maybe you’d rather get behind the wheel of a supercar and beat your friends to the finish line on Real Racing 3.
The days of games consoles being the only place to go for great graphics are long behind us. Real Racing 3 is so realistic that it should be the envy of any racing game on any platform. The fact that this game is free represents ridiculous value for (well, no) money.
It’s hard to beat the buzz of the casino, and there’s no need to, with your very own casino in your pocket from Mr. Green. One of our favorite games is the live blackjack game, which not only enables you to play the casino classic on your phone, but you’ll also be able to watch a real life, real-time (and often attractive) croupier deal your cards. If you like the social element of the casino, you can even chat with the dealer while sharing the table with other players.
How awesome is Minecraft!? Oh, come on – don’t even pretend you haven’t played it. If you’re going to persist with pretending you don’t know about Minecraft, we’ll indulge you: Minecraft is basically 21st century Lego – but in a digital world. You can share a Minecraft world with friends and create whatever you want… a house, a skyscraper, a Death Star… the (Minecraft) world really is your oyster.
Winner of the Flurry App Spotlight Award in 2012, Draw Something is one of the best games to play on your smartphone with friends. Regardless of whether you’re the next Picasso or your matchstick men could cause a fire of confusion, Draw Something’s gameplay tells you to draw something (duh) and your friend has to try to guess what it is – which is not necessarily as easy as it sounds! Nevertheless, it’s a great deal of fun and its popularity still runs strong.
