I am a huge football fan and I’m counting the minutes until the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7th at 6:30pm EST. I’m sure my friend and fellow football fan @SashaHalima is excited that it will be held in the city where she lives, Miami, Florida.
The Super Bowl is the only football game in the season when I watch the commercials. Many times the commercials are just as fun and exciting as the game itself. We all know how expensive advertising space is for the Super Bowl. Last year the going rate was $3 million for a 30 second spot, but this year, rumor has it, many discounts have been given in an effort to sell all the ad space available.
Who bought air time for this year and who didn’t? The answers may surprise you! According to http://adage.com, the companies that will advertise include:
Anheuser-Busch InBev
Audi of America
Boost Mobile
Bridgestone
Cars.com
Careerbuilder
Chrysler’s Dodge
Coca-Cola
Denny’s
Diamond Foods’ Pop-Secret
Dockers
Doritos
Dr Pepper/ Snapple
E-Trade
Electronic Arts
Focus on the Family
GoDaddy.com
HomeAway
Honda
Hyundai
Kia
kgb
Mars
Monster
Motorola
NFL
Teleflora
TRUTV
U.S. Census Bureau
Unilever’s Dove Men Care
Universal Pictures
Viacom’s Paramount Pictures
Volkswagen of America
Walt Disney Pictures
Yum Brands’ Taco Bell
Noticeably absent from this list is Pepsi-Cola who, for the first time in 23 years, will not be advertising in the Super Bowl. Also, FedEx will not be advertising this year. I’m looking forward to the Paramount Pictures commercials (they bought 3 spots) because they will apparently be promoting Iron Man 2 and The Last Airbender.
My favorite all time Super Bowl commercial is the very famous Budweiser Wassup commercial. I can watch this over and over and laugh. It never gets old. :)
