All the fuss about new cell phones, new laptops and new gadgets in general has made us block out the very world we’re living in. I mean, we’re looking too hard at what’s being released to consumers to accessorize our every day chores. And at the same time, we’re missing out what’s being done to our lifestyle and its design which should really be our main focus right now. Why? Well, because it’s the very world we will be using our gear in, and by not paying attention to it, we may very well find ourselves in a world where our privacy suddenly has gone transparent. Things are moving fast in the tech industry right now, and so is the interior design that we see around us. The ordinary Internet cafe might look very different in a few years from now, and we’d do best to start paying attention to it.
Designers Youri Hong, Moonhwan Park and Hyoshin Kim at SADI have designed the future Internet cafe which looks very different from what we are used to today. Recently Samsung showed us a transparent screen they are working on that might be incorporated into laptops and computers in the near future. Whether this is good or bad is of course entirely up to the user, but don’t expect to keep anything private if you want to show off your gear and how cool it is.
This new interior design and gadgets that are imagined and that will be the future of Internet cafes are truly amazing and leave you with a lot of thoughts and questions. But ultimately, with all the Geo tagging and transparent privacy settings we’re seeing popping up everywhere these days, this is yet another layer of totally transparent living. The concept may be ultra cool, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing the people over at Pentagon sporting one of these in the foreseeable future. Would you be comfortable working on one of these computers at an Internet Cafe?
