Mario and his friends never get old, and for those of us who grew up in the ’80s, that gang will always hold a special place in the retro corner of our hearts. It’s always fun to recreate those memories by wearing some nostalgic jewelry that celebrates all those late nights at the arcade when we looked forward to cashing in every dollar we managed to save for a handful of quarters just so we could get a chance at that high score.
Etsy users seem to have a knack for creating this type of jewelry, and we’ve featured it so many times before. Until I found this bracelet today, my favorite was the Super Mario Video Game Charm Bracelet.
When I first saw this 1up Mario mushroom bracelet below, I thought it was so fabulous in a geeky kind of way. The green color just seems to pop, and it’s truly an artistic beauty. Jenni M., aka Rammkah on Etsy, weaves handmade jewelry from glass beads and crystals. She created this bracelet specifically in memory of her friend Alex Molle who lost his fight against cystic fibrosis. Alex viewed the green 1up mushroom as a symbol which represents life, and Jenni made this bracelet with 32 glass mushroom beads and 1 clay mushroom for a total of 33 charms for the 33 years he lived. What a wonderful tribute, Jenni. You can pick this up in her store for 33 dollars.
