This is my kind of church! If there were a church made out of Lego in my town, I’d be the first one there every Sunday morning. I’d be sitting in the front row instead of sitting at my computer writing about one, like I’m doing right now. Unfortunately, this design is only temporary. Why… why why? I’m sure God wouldn’t mind a couple faux Lego bricks adorning this otherwise boring building. As a matter of fact, I vote for all churches in this country to be built with Lego. I wonder how that would affect religion.
Michiel de Wit and Filip Jonker from LOOS.FM redesigned this church specifically for a festival in Enschede, Netherlands. It’s a meeting place where people can prepare for the festival. Obviously, these aren’t official Lego bricks. They are called Legioblocks, which are very similar to Lego only they are made out of concrete and much larger. They are each painted one of five primary colors.
Those blocks kind of look like what we call cinder blocks in this country, and normally they are ugly and used only for very basic purposes. This is such a creative way to use those bricks of concrete! Apparently when this church lights up at night, it is truly spectacular.
