I love New York City, Mario and anything 8-bit. Since this article combines all three, it’s truly a fun one to write. Although I live in Atlanta, I’ve spent a lot of time in New York City. It’s one of those places I’d like to live one day. The first time you go there, navigating through the city can feel like a video game though. Those people don’t play. Crossing the street is very similar to playing Frogger, and walking on the sidewalk is like a Super Mario Galaxy world where the goal is to not get run over and knocked down by what I call professional walkers. If you can hang in NYC, you can pretty much figure your way around anywhere.
New York City is divided into five boroughs. Each borough is kinda like a neighborhood, except each one has its own government. It’s a little bit hard to describe, but it makes sense if you visit. The five boroughs in NYC are The Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. When I visit I mostly spend time in Tribeca, which is in Lower Manhattan.
Jesse Eisemann, who writes and illustrates for College Humor and Dorkly, decided to simply all of this into something we can all relate to… a Super Mario Map. Jesse drew every detail (almost) of all the five NYC boroughs in an interactive map which you can scroll through with your keyboard arrow keys. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? This would be a fun smartphone game, right? I love it!
