Star Wars vs. Star Trek: The Starships Compared [Infographic]

Here we go again on a topic that never gets old. Which is better, Star Wars or Star Trek? The Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate has been going on for years. I know to some people, it may seem ridiculous to even ask the question. To non-geeks, those two seem either too similar or too different to even compare. Before my grandmother died, she used to interchange their plots. She had them all mixed up into the same movie in her mind, which I always thought was cute. Other non-geeks look at the two and think they are completely separate and not comparable at all.

However, true geeks, especially the ones who grew up in the ’80s, know that these two franchises were the foundation of our youth. Since geeks live happy lives with little to argue about, it’s fun to create a little playful debate about which one is better. So, which one is it? It’s not fair to come up with some geeky argument where you recite facts supporting why Star Wars is all fantasy and Star Trek is pure science fiction so they can’t be compared. Nope. It’s Star Wars vs. Star Trek. Simple as that. Choose one. I pick Star Wars. There, I said it. Both of them are entertaining in their own ways, don’t get me wrong, but Star Wars had me at hello if you know what I mean. I love it.

I remember back in 2007ish when the writers of the new Star Trek movie (which was released in 2009) said they needed to “bring more Star Wars into Star Trek.” That one slip up sealed the deal for may geeks who were on the fence about which one was their favorite. It was like admitting defeat from the Enterprise while in a galaxy far, far away.

For this infographic called Star Wars vs. Star Trek, Bestessays.com did some serious research in an effort to determine which ship was better. The thing that annoys me though is that after doing all this, they didn’t leave their final opinion regarding the debate. Wtf? I suppose they are leaving it up to us to decide. So, which is it for you? My money is with Luke and the gang because 1) The Stormtroopers always miss when they shoot at them 2) They always win in the end. I put a few mashup photos below too. If you are a fan of both, they will put a big smile on your face for sure. Now I’m thinking about having my own Star Wars vs. Star Trek infographic created, and when I do, it will cover a lot more than just starships. Oh, that would be a LOT of fun!
