The Interactive Social Tea Mug That Gives Back

There is a ton of really cool social networking gear out there for anyone to delve into. Usually they are products that set aside all the profits for the designer and developer of the thing itself. Of course, this is all good since I am sure we wouldn’t have any jobs available if everyone started giving away all their money to charity. However, there are some people and organizations that truly bring it to the next level.

The Nanum project is a project which donates 100% of the proceeds of any product they market, and they have some of the coolest things. One of the more interesting ones is the “Heartea” mug or tumbler. It’s an ordinary tumbler which you can have cold or hot beverages in. You can bring it with you wherever you go, but there’s a twist to it.

The “mug” has a dot located on the side. It shows the beverage’s temperature by a LED light on the inside of the shell. If it’s cold, then it lights up blue. If it’s warm, then it goes orange. If it’s boiling hot, it lights up in red. Why you might ask? Well, it’s a social kind of thing. You will be able to display a glowing dot in red and people will most likely think its a cool idea. Then you get to talk about the awesome charity associated with it. Isn’t it cool that you get an awesome mug, and that you also get to donate money to charity just by buying it? The mug will cost $25 which I think is a bargain. For a donation, you get a geeky mug! – Designers: Sangmin BaeID+IM Design Lab. Members.
