Back in the old days, if you wanted to check out a new city, you either had to read a map or travel there. Now it’s a lot different. I don’t even know how to read a map, and I don’t have to since I have two GPS systems in my car (hey, you never know when one might fail). Thanks to technology, we can also see the beauty of a city, and exactly how it looks, without traveling there. Of course, nothing will take the place of going there to experience it firsthand, but we can definitely take a sneak peak online.
For example, I’ve always wanted to go to Hong Kong. I even want to go there more now since I’ve heard @mistygirlph talk about how amazing it is. Until I carve out the time in my schedule to actually go there, I found a site, which I wrote about a while back in an article called Panoramic View of Hong Kong – A Unique Photography Experience which allows a person to check out the city in-depth online!
Today, I have another site similar to that to share with you. This one takes you to the most romantic city in Italy, Venice. The coolest part about this virtual map is that it’s a street view, so you can actually feel like you are taking a walk there. You can also take a tour in a boat through the canal! Or, how about checking out an art show, a hotel or a restaurant you’ve heard about? You can do it all, and you don’t even have to get out of your chair. I love this!
