Microsoft just launched Windows 7 and getting a lot of buzz thanks to Burger King! I watched the 2 videos and man I love burgers but i don’t think i can finish one! But i think its a pretty cool idea, getting a lot of hype and buzz.
Microsoft has taken the unusual step of promoting Windows 7 in Japan with Burger King’s launch of a Windows 7 Whopper. Fitting in with the software theme, the burger stacks seven patties in an otherwise normal Whopper and measures 5.1 inches tall. It also has an appropriate 777 yen ($8.53) price.
The stunt isn’t unique for Microsoft’s Windows 7 launch, which in the run-up to Thursday’s introduction has repeated the “seven” theme in multiple publicity events; it launched a giveaway of the new OS for every resident of the Dutch village of Zevenhuizen (“Seven Houses”) and decorated parts of the Spanish village Sietes (“Sevens”) in Windows-themed colors. The campaign contrasts sharply against the more traditional ads of Vista and earlier Windows releases, highlighting Microsoft’s desire to turn around its public image. SOURCE
Here is a review from johnspohr:
Burger King is selling the Windows 7 Whopper at all of its 10 or so locations in Japan for about a week from the launch date of Windows 7 and we decided to go and try it out. Our impressions on it. It seems like Burger King is making a killing on this. Person after person kept coming in and ordering this. I asked the clerk if this had increased sales and he said it had more than doubled. The burger cost 1400 yen or about 15 dollars. Amazing!!! They should have put condiments between all the burgers. I wonder if this was The Windows 7 Whopper home edition or Windows 7 Whopper ultimate?
