I love butterflies, and I always have. Whenever I see one, I always have to stop what I’m doing to admire it. These fragile, colorful insects are a symbol of grace, beauty and elegance. Here in the States, if a butterfly lands on your shoulder, it’s considered a sign of good luck.
When I was in elementary school, many times my friends and I tried to catch butterflies. We even had a plastic toy called a “butterfly catcher.” Of course, they were always smarter than us, and able to get away. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t catch one. In kindergarten, I used to love to smash ants with my fingers. I can’t imagine what I would have done to a butterfly!
Lately, over the past few years, butterflies have become more and more a part of fashion, design and photography. Open any fashion magazine, and you’ll find a page with butterflies used in the photography. It seems like I’m not the only one that is inspired by these incredible creatures. Below are several examples of butterflies used in fashion photography. In some of the photos, the butterfly is used as a complement to the look, and in others, it is the look itself. Either way, it just works and it’s stunning. Thank you Marcia for sharing these on My Modern Met.
