This is the sweetest most badass granny tattoo I’ve ever seen. I’ve talked about getting a tattoo for years, but as of now, I don’t have one. I always joke that I’ll be a granny someday when I finally decide to get a tattoo. There won’t be anybody around to say, “Aren’t you worried about what that will look like when you’re old?” because I’ll already be there. That’s exactly what happened to this badass granny who decided to get her last wishes tattooed on her body when she was 81-years-old.
Joy Tomkins watched her husband of many years die a painful death. She decided then that she did not want to suffer the same way at the end of her own life. If it is her time to go, she wants everyone around her to know she embraces that, and they should not try to resuscitate her. She wants to die a peaceful death, without being hooked up to machines or put through some chemical treatment.
By getting “Do Not Resuscitate” tattooed on her chest, and P.T.O tattoed on her back (short for “please turn over”), she hopes that her final wishes will be respected when the time comes. I wonder how she came up with the idea to have this tattooed on body. There’s no doubt it was a brilliant idea, and I bet it will inspire other grannies to have their last wishes tattooed on their bodies also. I’ve written about a lot of badass grannies over the years. There was the granny who won the beauty pageant, the granny who is the world’s only female 10th degree black belt, and the granny who tried pop rocks for the first time. There are many grannies out there who rock, but this granny has to be the most badass granny of all. You go girl!
