When I was in the U.S. last July, before visiting Chicago, we dropped by Tucson to visit with my aunts, uncles and cousins. It was a family reunion since I have not seen them in years. While having dinner at a cousin’s house, my cousin’s girlfriend asked one of our nieces where she got her colorful silly bandz. We were told that it was the craze with kids, and apparently with some adults as well.
Silly bandz are colorful elastic bands that come in different shapes like animals, firehouses, red crosses, police badges, etc… The kids buy them and wear as many as they can on one arm. We were also told that they even trade them with each other, just in case some of the designs were hard to find. I brought a couple of the packs home, and they were an instant hit.
The bands are really cute and can be a good addition to your wardrobe as accessories. However, what if you do not really like the animals and the colorful ones? There are now stretchy bands made especially for geeks and gadget lovers. Now you can have bands in the shape of your mobile phone, MP3 player, computer, tablets, etc… in black and silver swirl color. They cost $5.99 for a pack of 24 bands. You can wear one, two or all of them at the same time. Come on, you know you want to. I will be visiting the U.S. again soon, and I will hopefully find some for my friends and me!
