[Update: Too bad this tattoo turned out to be fake! I was really hoping this girl was for real.] I realize that this story is on every single major blog in the world today, but if there was ever anything that deserved to be on Bit Rebels, this is it. I just couldn’t resist writing about it. This has got to be the wackiest social media WTF incident ever. Richard just wrote an article about some really cool black light tattoos. I thought this might be a fun follow up.
This girl had 152 of her Facebook friends tattooed on her arm. Those aren’t all of her Facebook friends, just the ones who she is really close to. Some say this takes the whole lack of privacy concept to another level, but in her defense, she got each person’s permission before she permanently inked her arm full of faces.
She is looking at the whole thing as a snapshot of a specific time in life. I guess that’s a good thing since people typically change their profile picture a lot on Facebook. That’s not even to mention if she decides to unfriend someone. In case you are wondering, she didn’t get this whole tattoo finished in one day. It took months to complete.
I wonder though why she chose to have them positioned so that when she looks down at her arm, they are upside down. It seems like she would rather see her friends’ faces in the regular direction, looking at her. Oh well, I’m sure she had a method to her madness when she decided to get this. Whether or not her Facebook friends will be as permanent as her tattoo, I still have to give her credit for making such a big commitment. In a way, it’s really touching.
