Writing Advice From History’s Most Successful Writers [12 Pics]

As of right now, there are 6,957 articles here on Bit Rebels. If each one of those articles has an average of 350 words, that’s about 2,434,950 words. If the average book has 80,000 words, that means all of the writers here have collectively written a little more than 30 books. That’s a lot of writing! I personally write three blog posts every day, and I’ve been doing that 365 days a year for over 3 years. If I want a day off from writing, I’ll write 6 at once in order to cover the next day. No matter what is going on in life, no matter what the season or holiday, time never stops or even slows down, and this schedule goes on every single day. I’m always trying to find ways to get better at writing, and I welcome any writing advice anyone gives me.

Richard and I just had a conversation about this today. Writing as much as we do eventually becomes an entire lifestyle. It becomes a part of who you are instead of something you just do when you have free time. If you update your blog as often as we do, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. The other day someone asked me if I have a personal blog, and I said yes, it’s called Bit Rebels.

Even though we write a lot, and we love every minute of it, it doesn’t mean it always comes easy every day. There are still days when the words don’t flow from our fingertips like we want them to, and there are still days when we publish something and then cringe after it’s out there. It’s all part of the learning process. We try to soak up all the writing advice we can get just like everyone else.

Just because a person writes a lot, it doesn’t mean he or she is immune to self-doubt or writer’s block at times. It just means that person pushes through those feelings and does it anyway. It’s really that simple. When I saw these quotes from famous writers, I knew I wanted to share them with you because they are so inspiring and motivating to me. Like I said, we could all use some writing advice every now and then, right? There are so many different kinds of writers, and whether you write fiction, non-fiction, blog posts or poetry, I hope you enjoy these.

Artist Chris Ritter created these images for Buzzfeed, and there are 30 in the entire collection. I’ve only featured a sampling of my favorites here. You can see them all by visiting 30 Indispensable Writing Tips From Famous Authors. So what is your best piece of writing advice for new writers? I have a piece of advice, but it’s more editing advice than writing advice. Mine would be…Write your entire post without editing, and then when you are finished, go back and edit it so it looks like you want it to (in other words, don’t edit as you go, it’s too time consuming). Then at the very end, before you publish it, read through it once out loud. That is when you will be able to get an idea about how it will be received. It’s like you can feel it like the reader will feel it by reading it out loud. I read every single post on Bit Rebels out loud before it’s published. It’s just how we do things here. You can read more about that here on Forbes. Okay, back to your writing advice…What is it? I want to learn from you.
