As many of you might know, when we see a cool watch here at Bit Rebels, we just can’t resist writing about it. You might have caught a glance at the liquid watch I wrote about yesterday. It is a particularly interesting timepiece that I think could come to change a lot when it comes to how watches are developed and styled in the future. But innovation when it comes to watches doesn’t stop there. The watch is taken to new heights with the new concept finger watch recently unveiled.
The finger watch, or ring watch (whatever you prefer to call it), is a brilliant idea masterminded by Gusztáv Szikszai. At first glance, you might think it is yet another finger ring dice or something similar to it, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. It is actually a carefully designed finger watch that if realized could add a new style to the many cool, sophisticated and beautiful watches available today. The wrist watch concept has been around for a long time now, but the format has not changed much since it was introduced.
With this finger watch, that could all be about to change. The question is whether or not it will be realized. The three core rings will show you hours, minutes and of course seconds. But that’s not where the problem resides, the challenge is how to power such a device. Many people have suggested that it will be powered by kinetic energy, which means whenever you move your hand it will keep going and going (even slight movements would charge it). It’s a system that is incorporated into a lot of watches today, and it should work for this watch as well.
This finger watch is actually called Ring Clock, and it is of course a concept design. But the appeal of it, its analog yet digital style, makes it a concept that at least I think should be pushed to be realized. Why not try and crowdfund the development of it through one of the many popular kick starter services now available on the Internet? I am sure there would be a whole lot of people who would like to pledge in order to receive one of these. It’s a truly magnificent concept idea worth keeping an eye on.
