It’s apparent that 3D printing has come a long way when you start seeing the innovation around it. We have seen 3D printing used in a variety of different areas and industries so far, but it’s when you see it used to create larger things that it starts to get really exciting. 3D printers are getting larger, but it feels like the objects printed are still the same. That’s something that Signal Snowboards is definitely trying to change with their new 3D printed snowboard design.
Signal Snowboards is known for breaking new ground with their snowboard designs, and this 3D printed snowboard is definitely one of those. They have a series where they create a new snowboard every third Thursday (which is also the name of the series itself). This time around, they took their daredevil tactics and created a 3D printed puzzle snowboard design and took it to the slope to try it out.
The board actually performs quite well when you think about the fact that it is 3D printed, and that it’s made out of several 3D printed pieces put together. The snowboard design itself was a little flimsy when first taken out of its plastic wrapping, so they had to strengthen it with a few metal rods in order to ride it. The end result was a total success.
It’s really exciting to see 3D printing being used in new ways, and that’s what we are all thinking here at Bit Rebels. When you see a snowboard design like this, you start thinking up all kinds of cool stuff you can do with 3D printing. Can you imagine having your 3D printer print stuff like this? How cool would that be, right? With this design, I think Signal Snowboards has set the bar for where creativity needs to go when it comes to not only snowboards, but for everything involving 3D printing. I can’t wait to see where 3D printing is taken after this. The creativity is virtually limitless when it comes to 3D printing. Totally rad dude!
