Samsung remains a big player in the smartphones industry, no doubt. Because of the excellent quality of their products, they’ve managed to penetrate different markets, including the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia among others. This can be attested by the company’s flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S10 & Samsung Galaxy S10+, which has triggered noteworthy interest from across the globe.
It’s not just empty talk! The smartphone has brought in several improvements over its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S9, which put it on a lofty pedestal as a sturdy competitor among the leading smartphone brands. From an improved processing speed to a bigger RAM, a larger screen to an improved battery, Samsung Galaxy S10 is a gadget to reckon with.
For example, the RAM has been raised to 8GB compared to S9’s 4GB. Screen brightness, on the other hand, got an uptick of 100nits, hitting 1200nits in the S10 against S9’s 1100nits. As usual, users always go for that little extra thing that puts one gadget over the other and that’s why many people are already up in arms to own this new entrant.
Obviously, such improvements never come for free. Those who’d like to own the Samsung Galaxy S10 will have to chuck out an extra sum of money in comparison to what it costs to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S9. This isn’t coming as a surprise though; that’s how it happens every time a company releases its flagship that sells as an improvement over its predecessor.
Aware that many users aren’t keen on spending such huge sums in a single transaction, most of the smartphone manufacturers, if not all, go into contracts with other industry players to allow potential users own such gadgets through different payment plans that are fitting to the users’ varying needs. One of the most frequently used approaches by these carriers is friendly payment plans. Some of the biggest players in this trade are Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
While these payment plans make it easier for users to own high-end entrants like the Samsung Galaxy S10, such plans always come with one main disadvantage – the network lock. What this means is that the purchased phone comes restricted to the network of the carrier. For example, when you purchase a phone using a Verizon plan, the said phone would only accept a Verizon SIM card. Consequently, calls, SMS’s, and mobile data services on the new phone would be limited to Verizon’s plans. Inserting a different SIM card other than a Verizon one would result in a network error and a wrong SIM card warning.
One of the most beautiful things mobile network customers enjoy today is the ability to switch from one network to another of choice depending on the networks’ prevailing offers, tariffs, and regular packages. If, for example, AT&T is having an amazing offer, a Sprint user would easily insert an AT&T SIM card and take advantage of the offer. Unfortunately, if your phone is locked to a single network, you can only admire such offers, but not be able to enjoy them.
People who travel a lot know this too well. Someone traveling from the United States to Kenya, for example, would easily enjoy local mobile network services by simply buying a local SIM card and using it in their Samsung Galaxy S10 if it is unlocked.
The other advantage of owning an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10 is a higher resell value.
As an owner of a locked Samsung Galaxy S10, you might be wondering whether there is a way you can have it unlocked. Luckily, there are genuine and secure ways through which you can have your phone unlocked to open it up for use on other networks. Even your carrier can give you an unlock code. Sadly though, going through the carrier always ends up in unwarranted red tape and frustrations. Going through that pain isn’t a guarantee that you’d get an unlock code as the carrier may simply give you an emphatic “No!”
In this article, however, we’re sharing with you a simpler, secure and affordable way of unlocking your Samsung Galaxy S10 without the need for the highly draining bureaucracy.
For you to have your Samsung Galaxy S10 unlocked, you’ll need its IMEI/IMEID. If you don’t already know it, there are simple ways through which you can get it. The first approach is to dial *#06# on your locked phone. The IMEI/IMEID would then pop up. The other approach is by going to your S10’s settings and checking the information about it. You should be able to inspect the IMEI/IMEID there; it’s a long string of numbers. Once you get it, simply note it down somewhere because it’s a requirement in the next step.
There are several companies that provide unlock codes for Samsung Galaxy S10. However, for the purpose of this article, we are only giving you instructions on how to do so using UnlockUnit. We chose UnlockUnit for this piece because we’ve used their services for several years and even recommended them to users with remarkable success. Moreover, their customer support system is very effective, providing prompt responses to user questions.
Having said that, let’s now look at the procedure of securing an unlock code from UnlockUnit. The first step is to visit UnlockUnit. On the page that opens, select the device model, then on the following page select the network that your Samsung Galaxy S10 is locked to then in the IMEI text field, enter the IMEI/IMEID you noted down. The next field is for your email address. Make sure you enter a valid email address that you have access to because that’s the email address in which UnlockUnit will send you an unlock code. Agree to the T&Cs and then hit on the “Unlock Now” button. Check your email to verify that you’ve received the unlock code before moving to the next step.
With the unlock code ready, shut down your Samsung Galaxy S10, remove your current SIM card and insert a SIM card from another network. For example, if your phone is locked to AT&T network, remove the AT&T SIM card and replace it with a Verizon SIM card. Now turn your Samsung Galaxy S10 on. Once the phone is fired back on, a prompt will pop up asking you to input your unlock code. Just enter the unlock code sent to your email then click OK. That’s it! Your phone is now unlocked and ready to accept other SIM cards.
With your phone finally unlocked, you might be asking yourself why it’s always made to appear like it’s a process through hell. That’s exactly what it is if you’re to go through your carrier. In fact, they’re always doing their best to ensure you remain locked to their network so that they can earn money from your subscription for their services. A point to note is that UnlockUnit not only unlocks Samsung Galaxy S10 but also other smartphones from other brands such as Apple, Huawei, Blackberry, Motorola, HTC and more.
