Abandoned Apples: Old Apple Products Left Behind & Photographed

One of the interesting things about being a technology lover, especially if you’re an early adopter, is that once we get a new piece of tech, we get rid of the old one like it’s yesterday’s garbage. It doesn’t matter how much we love our smartphones, the moment we get a new one, we’ll drop the old one like it never mattered to us in the first place. Unlike a lot of tech, Apple products tend to hold some resale value, so many people choose to sell their old stuff when they upgrade.

I tend to keep my old Apple products because they are usually sentimental to me. I still have my iBook from back in the day, and just turning it on brings back so many memories. There are some people though who just abandon their old Apple products. Whether they were old computers left in an office building, a foreclosed house or even a car, some people just leave their old tech behind for whatever reason.

We’ve featured a lot of art that can be created from old Apple products, but when I looked at these photographs today, I realized that there is a certain beauty in the products themselves after they’ve been decaying for a while. They’re sad and beautiful in their own ways.

This collection of abandoned Apple products was photographed by people who were exploring urban spaces. They made sure not to disturb anything, and they only took photos to document their findings. These pictures were taken all over the world.

There is a story behind each one of these photographs. For example, the picture with all the old iMacs was taken in an abandoned fire station. These iMacs were left over from a school computer lab. People have since vandalized this space and smashed all the screens. The first picture below was taken in an abandoned house in New Zealand. There are now a bunch of birds that live there, and you can see the bird poop all over what was once a Macintosh LC III and a Playstation.

You can click over to Macworld to read the story behind the rest of these pictures. All of these old Apple products come together to create an unusual yet interesting photography collection.
