Pen Scanner: The Ultimate Secret Agent Mobile Office Tool

Just yesterday I wrote an article about some clever tips to use your smartphone more efficiently for work. One of the things I learned from that, which seems so obvious now, is to use the smartphone camera in place of a scanner when we’re working mobile and have no access to an actual scanner. With this a pen scanner, we will never have a reason to be without a scanner. Plus, you’ll look like a secret agent when using it, which will add to your geek cred.

This pen scanner looks like something taken out of the movies, and it must be one of the geekiest pens ever made. On the surface, nobody will know you are using a special pen. It writes just like any other ballpoint pen. But when you need a scanner, you can put this spy tool to the test and surprise everyone around you.

This pen scanner produces clear 2048 x 1536 pixel images. When you press the shutter button down halfway, it projects the red laser frame onto your paper and focuses the image. It has 1GB of built-in flash memory, which holds up to 1,000 pictures in jpeg format. It is also capable of recording 1,000 one-minute voice memos with its microphone. It has a hidden USB plug that downloads the scanned images to your computer. It can take 300 images after only a one-hour charge.

This pen scanner was just released a few days ago on Hammacher Schlemmer, and it sells for $124.95. This seems like the perfect mobile tool to add to our list of accessories. Although the price is high, it’s still in line with what some people pay for designer pens. It just that this one is a whole lot geekier, and it comes with a lot more features.
