The Guitar That Can Type An Email Makes Email Interesting Again

For me, checking and replying to emails is the most boring part of my workday. It’s the only boring part actually. I have learned to accept that it’s a necessary evil since so much business is done online these days. The bizarre thing to me is that email marketing is still the number one most effective form of Internet marketing, so I suppose someone out there enjoys checking email. Wouldn’t it be great if we could type an email in a more interesting way, like with a guitar? Now that’s possible.

Granted, this is completely impractical and using this would kill our daily productivity. It’s still fun to fantasize though about what it would be like to change up email a little. I mean, the way we type emails pretty much hasn’t changed in a decade.

This is a guitar that can type an email. Watch the video below to see it in action. It’s appropriately called the Email Guitar, and it was created by David Neevel. It’s a musical keyboard device, and each musical note represents a letter on the keyboard. I know what you’re thinking – it would take half an hour to type a short email. That’s probably true, but that’s not the point. The point is, it’s a guitar that can type emails!

In order to make this work, David added a Midi translator, an Arduino, some relays and a USB interface from a keyboard to the guitar. This is a creative little design that I’m sure will make many people smile. I bet this type of innovation could have multiple applications and uses. Think about all the things around the house that we could jack and hack to type an email. Email just suddenly got interesting again!
