For some people, collecting old magazines is a serious hobby. It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George’s father collected TV Guides. I don’t keep old magazines since they take up too much space in my house.
If I did; however, I would want to do something like this with them. What a wonderful way to recycle old National Geographic magazines into something really cute!
Created by Sean Miller, a designer from Seattle, this brightly colored shelf is a surprisingly useful and unique piece of home decor. According to Inhabitat.com, “First Sean coated the magazines with a water/starch mixture and then he placed them under pressure for about a week to harden. Next he took a band saw to the consolidated stack and carved out the space for a shelf. About 80 magazines were used.” It sounds really simple, doesn’t it? Nice job Sean!
