Keeping Your Mind And Body Happy During Hard Times

Change is hard…but let’s stay positive. We’ve been in this pandemic for what feels like forever now. I’ve officially been working from home for over 165 days, and I know how being stuck at home can take a toll on emotions. Left to more of our own thoughts, it sometimes feels like everything is completely out of our control. But one thing we can control is how we treat our mind and body. Staying positive can be difficult.

You’re allowed to feel how you feel, but once negativity takes over, it’s often hard to get back to a positive mindset. A solid routine of healthy habits can help your mind focus. There are many ways to stay positive, and I’m learning more each and every day. Here are a few tips to keep your mind and body happy.

Stay Active

Staying active and exercising regularly releases endorphins. Finding creative and fun ways to keep yourself on the move, along with taking vitamins to help keep your body happy and energized, is incredibly important.

Your bones are the foundation of your healthy lifestyle—so consider a calcium supplement to support strong bones. Calcium can help you maintain an active body, especially right now when gyms are not as easily accessible.

Eat Healthily

Making healthy foods part of your daily routine will not only benefit you now but also in the future. Smart food choices can help protect you from many health problems. Foods that give you more energy—like bananas, salmon, eggs, apples, and lots of water—can boost your positivity and keep you energized throughout the day.

Try Something New

Whether it’s a skill or recipe, trying something new can make a positive impact. What is the worst that can happen? The recipe doesn’t turn out right, and you laugh about it? We all know laughter is the best medicine!

On the upside, you may discover a new hobby or passion. During the pandemic, I’ve taken up golf. And though I’m no expert and may even feel defeated at times, I’m outdoors soaking in the sun and laughing when I miss the ball six swings in a row.

Do Something For Someone Else

This is a trick my mom taught me. Do something unexpected and unique for someone you know, or even the stranger behind you in the drive-thru. Send a message, letter, or pick up the phone. Give an anonymous gift or treat to someone in your life. Kind acts don’t have to cost you anything.

Be creative and think outside the box. Studies msum d2l show when you make someone else happy, you make yourself happier and reduce stress. Discover new ways to spread your happiness to others. People are struggling all around you, and even something small could make their day.

Focus On What You Do Have

It’s easy to name all the problems you have in your life when you are a bit down in the dumps. Switch your mindset to focus on the gifts you have, whether it’s a roof over your head, food in the fridge, someone to keep you company, running water, etc. Each morning or night before bed, write down a few of the things you are grateful for—this will help you focus on the positives.

It may also be helpful to define the areas in your life you CAN control. The more time and energy spent on matters beyond your reach, the less time and energy you have to spend on ways to make a difference in your life and the lives of those around you. Always remember to be kind to yourself. Take time for self-care. Do more of what makes you happy to keep your spirits positive.

After trying some of these tips, take time to reflect if your mind and energy change. Now, get out there and find a new hobby to enjoy! *This medicine may not be right for you. Read the label before purchase. Follow the directions for use. If symptoms persist, worsen, or change unexpectedly, talk to your health professional.
