One of my favorite Homer Simpson quotes is “Porkchops and bacon, my two favorite animals.” We love bacon too Homer. I don’t know what it is about it, but that crunchy, salty yummy goodness makes people everywhere happy. Even just the smell of it can bring a smile to our faces.
Over the past year, I’ve noticed that bacon has become more than just bacon. It has become the “fill in the blank” solution for many of life’s challenges. If you need something to taste better, add bacon. If you want to wear something unique, wear bacon. If you want to make a gift extra special, make it with bacon. And if you want to get a lot of followers on Twitter, tweet about bacon. Pretty much if you want to make anything go from ordinary to extraordinary, you just add bacon! So, what could make the average bouquet of roses even more special than they already are? What could add that little touch of something extra? Well, to make it a bouquet of bacon roses of course!
The best part is, I can’t really think of anything that smells better than red roses… except bacon. I found two places where you can learn how to do this. Believe it or not, even though the recipe calls for using a drill, and you will need to destroy your muffin pan, it looks relatively simple. The first tutorial you can find on a Fast Company article called How to Make a Bacon Broquet. The second one, which I prefer, is on this Instructables article by kaptaink_cg simply entitled Bacon Roses. These actually look kind of pink, don’t they? Ahh… pink pork roses. This is getting better by the minute.
