We’ve all heard the phrase, “Imitation is the best form of flattery.” I suppose that is true to some extent. As a person who is immersed in social media, blogging and the Internet in general all day every day, I see people copying each other a lot. We also see imitation products all the time. Sometimes it is almost impossible to tell the difference between an original and an imitation. This happens a lot with women’s handbags; however, I pride myself on being able to spot a fake Prada, Chanel or Louis Vuitton handbag from all the way down the street.
Of all the fakes in the world, there is one thing I never thought I’d see an imitation for. That is, of course, the Apple Store. I’ve heard of things inside stores being copied, but never the whole freaking store. I guess that’s one way to think big. I guess in a twisted way, it makes sense. These imitation Apple Stores are located in China, and they are very detailed and accurate. Well, they look accurate if you aren’t used to visiting any Apple Stores regularly. I’m in those stores every week, and I think my knock-off sense would start tingling if I stepped foot in one of these stores. It’s the same sense that can spot those fake designer handbags.
The crazy thing is that rumor has it the employees who work there really think they are working for Apple. You’d think the fact they aren’t allowed to put their names on their nametags would be a suspicious giveaway, but I suppose not. You can read more about these fake Apple Stores on ifoAppleStore, Apple Insider and Bird Abroad. So… who from Apple, if anyone, is going to fly to China to open a can of whoooooop-ass? I guess we’ll see. :)
