13 Most Common Reasons People Get Fired From Jobs [Infographic]

We write a lot about how to get a job, and how to use social media to help during the process, but we don’t often write about how to keep a job once you’ve got it. People get fired from jobs for all kinds of different reasons. If the company is cutting back on expenses, you might even lose your job because of nothing you’ve done (i.e. if your job is eliminated). To some people, general office dos and don’ts are common sense, but to others, it’s not so obvious. For those people, this guide might be of assistance.

I’ve known people who have been fired from jobs for the most obscure reasons. Others aren’t quite so obvious, like ‘unauthorized surfing of the Internet, or breach of company email policy.’ There is not a standard rule about what is okay and what is not okay when it comes to Internet use.
