Even though I’m not a designer, I love typography. There are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, but when you start exploring all the creative typography created by artists everywhere, you realize that 26 letters is all it takes for unlimited, endless typography options.
Typography isn’t limited to the English language of course. For example, typography in China is also popular. There are over 8,000 different characters in the Chinese language (3,500 popular ones), so typography there is a little bit more of a challenge, but that doesn’t stop artists from giving it their all. You can check out this Chinese Typography group on Flickr for some inspiring examples.
Like any design, typography comes in all different shapes, sizes and styles. Sometimes it’s sophisticated and fancy, sometimes it’s classic, and sometimes it’s playful and fun. Today I wanted to share with you some foodie fun typography designed around the ampersand sign. These were created by artist Dan Beckemeyer, and as you can see, he created his own food groups with the ampersand sign. I wish these were real food groups. I think we could really use a food group called pizza and beer. I would be all over that. Coffee and doughnuts would be nice too!
