A Business Degree May Be More Versatile Than You Realize [Infographic]

I’m a huge fan of being self-employed, but I can appreciate that the entrepreneurial career path is not for everyone. There are just as many people or more who dream of being the CEO of a huge company someday. There are so many different roads to take, and sometimes just figuring out which one is best for you is one of the most challenging decisions you can make. I thought this information about getting a business degree was worth sharing.

I received my own business degree from USC. At that time, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life exactly, but since I grew up working in our family business, it just made sense. As it turns out, a business degree is one of the most versatile degrees you can get.

One of the reasons for that is because in today’s rocky economic climate, companies are known for laying employees off or eliminating jobs without notice. Gone are the days when people work at the same company for their entire lives and then collect a pension at the end. These days, people will change jobs 7-8 times during their professional careers. If you know that going into it, you know how important it is to have a versatile degree that will appeal to many different employers.

For example, you may love math or English, but will a math or English degree be as flexible and give you as many options as a business degree? Most likely the answer is no. This infographic called Business Degree To Business Career by New England College illustrates some of these relevant stats as they pertain to a business degree. This information is based on data in the United States, and I’d be curious to see what these stats are worldwide.

Another great application for your business degree is that it opens the door for a number of graduate programs. You would be eligible to obtain a Master of Science in Health Care Administration online, for example, if you already possess a business degree. The Masters in Health Care degree, as you might suspect, gives you the ability to apply to a number of careers in the medical field that are both financially and personally rewarding.
