The Pros And Cons Of Freelancing: Are You Ready For It? [Infographic]

The word ‘freelancer’ is interesting. It doesn’t have the same meaning as the word ‘entrepreneur.’ Some people say the only difference between freelancing and entrepreneurship is mindset. Others say freelancers identify themselves by their craft (i.e. coder, designer, graphic artist), and entrepreneurs identify themselves by their industry because they don’t limit themselves to just one task.

There are so many ways to look at it, but for the purpose of this article, we’ll use the word ‘freelancer’ interchangeably with ‘entrepreneur.’ As I’ve said in many of my articles, I’ve been an entrepreneur almost my entire adult life. In my humble opinion, if you are wondering whether or not you are ready to be a freelancer, you probably are. The reason why is because you are making the choice. There are two types of freelancers – there are those who choose to be one, and then there are those who are forced into it because of a layoff or some other unfortunate event.

Although it’s true that there are more entrepreneurs in the world now than ever before (and some people say in the future we’ll all be entrepreneurs), that doesn’t mean all those people chose that path. They may not even like it. They may not fit the mold of the innovative, creative entrepreneur who is trying to make his or her dreams a reality. In other words, some people get into freelancing out of necessity rather than because they’ve got the itch.

This infographic called The Pros And Cons Of Being A Freelancer (by Graphic Design Degree Hub) lists some of the pros and cons of choosing a freelancing lifestyle. If you are on the fence about whether or not it’s for you, this infographic can help you decide. If you make it your top priority to be happy with whatever you do for a living, you’ll surely come to the right decision regardless of what it is.
