A few weeks ago, we wrote an article entitled How We Use Our Brains. It contained a beautiful infographic which suggested we only use 20% of our brain. I’ve always heard we use 10% of our brain. So what is the other 80% or 90% made of? Richard suggested that it might be possible that the universe equipped us with room to grow and become more intelligent as we evolve. I really liked that possible scenario. It offered a lot of hope and possibility for a bright future.
However, during my research today, I discovered two things about our brain which I didn’t know before. First of all, the whole idea that we don’t use our whole brain is a myth. We do not only use 10% or 20% of brain, we use our entire brain. I had trouble believing that when I first read it, but I found many credible sources that confirm it. I’ve linked those sources below for you to check out for yourself. Are you surprised about this? I was.
The second thing I learned about the brain today is that a person’s personality doesn’t necessarily have a right brain or left brain dominance. In reality, both sides of the brain are dependent on each other. They co-exist rather than compete for our attention. There are times though when they have conflict. The illustration below is an example of that.
If you would like to play with your right and left brain together, you can check out the video in Right Brain vs. Left Brain. You can also check out some cool architecture in Right-Brain & Left-Brain Architectural Masterpiece. One thing we haven’t featured before are examples of how artists and photographers have chosen to illustrate the differences between the right and left brains. I carefully selected each one of these to share with you. I think every one is inspiring and fabulous!
