Our lives and everything in it is constantly changing and evolving. Nothing stays the same for very long, which is a good thing, but many times we don’t notice it because we are right in the middle of all the change, and on top of all that, we are changing too. It’s the mindmeld that we call reality, and nothing catalogs it all better in a nice and neat little format like the Internet does.
You can search for any topic in the world, and if the online posts and pictures are dated, you can track its progress throughout time. This even applies to art and design of all kinds, and in this case, extraordinary 3D sculptured nail art.
Back in the late ’80s, French manicures were the big thing. It was an exciting time when women finally started getting their nails polished a different color than red or pink. It was big news back then. Then a decade later, never before seen nail colors became mainstream… like black, yellow, purple and blue. For the past few years, we’ve started seeing nail artists polish intricate designs with all kinds of colors on their nails. We’ve featured video games, comic book superheroes and even fruit polished on nails.
So, where could nail art evolve from there? I think if you take a look at deviantARTist Kayleigh (*KayleighOC), you’ll get a pretty good idea. Yep, this is the crazzzziest fingernail art I’ve ever seen. As you see, most of these are inspired by movie and television shows, and they are fabulous in every way. Kayleigh glues fake nails on her natural nails in order to get the palette necessary for these designs. When she’s finished with each creation, she photographs it and wears it for a day or so until the nails start to break. Then she creates another design. She does this a few times each week.
I am completely blown away by these. I have to get my own nails professionally polished since I just make a big mess when I try to do it myself. Even after that, I usually mess them up before the polish is dry. Kayleigh, you are truly an inspiration to all of us nail noobs in the world!
