I’ve written a few articles lately about caricatures. When they are done well, they are so much fun to look at, and very inspiring. There are so many different styles to caricature art, and all of them are very distinct and different. Today I’d like to share with you a collection of photo manipulated caricatured illustrations by Rodney Pike. His artistic talent oozes in every one of these illustrations.
Rodney has been drawing since he was very young, and he’s had no formal training. Photo manipulation using Photoshop is his passion, and he works on his art eighteen hours a day, seven days a week. He’s created hundreds of illustrations.
I’ve often wondered how a caricature artist chooses the defining facial trait in a subject in order to exaggerate it. In this example below, Rodney gives some clues about how he went about making this Tim Burton caricature. The original photograph is the first one, and his interpretation of it is the second one. Wow! You can learn more about Rodney on deviatArt and the Behance Network. I love these!
