Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, it’s time to start think about this year’s sweater collection. Instead of the same old traditional fuzzy sweaters that I normally choose, this year, I’m looking forward to getting something a little more creative. I want some sweaters with a little more personality and style.
Sometimes seemingly boring sweaters can suddenly become exciting, depending on who’s wearing them. Have you ever noticed that? It’s interesting to me how some pop culture icons have taken simple sweaters and turned them into epic fashion legends that we recognize in an instant.
For example, the sweater that Kurt Cobain wore in the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video is now safely displayed in the EMP museum in Seattle. You can see a picture of the display here on Flickr. Bill Cosby’s sweaters are so famous that there is an entire tumblr page called The Cosby Sweater Project dedicated to him and his sweaters. I could also recognize the Ferris Bueller and Freddy Krueger sweaters from a mile away. They are etched in my brain forever. The designers over at Found Item Clothing put together these fun illustrations of nine famous sweaters. You can visit their website for the entire collection and more descriptions. Thank you for the inspiration guys!
