Architecture Student Turns An Old Bus Into A Really Nice Mobile Home

We’ve all heard of celebrities who drive around in pimped out tour buses with amenities that even some homes don’t have. Most of us regular people don’t have the opportunity to travel in style like that when riding down the highway. There is one person who does though, and he’s an architectural student named Hank Butitta. He bought an old bus, a school bus to be more specific, and he redesigned it into a really nice mobile home that he eventually plans to park in the woods (like a cabin).

Hank bought this old bus off Craigslist for $3,000. His massive remodeling endeavor became his final project in school. If you watch the video below, you’ll see the shocking before and after photos. Along with his brother and friend, he worked on it for 15 weeks straight. Now that it’s all finished, they’ve decided to take a 5,000 mile trip across the United States. You can track where he is and how the bus is doing on Hank Bought A Bus.

As a techie geek, you might wonder how the occupants of the bus are able to keep all their gadgets juiced up on this journey. According to YouTube, there are “two golf card batteries wired underneath the bus into a number of wall outlets that can supply power for laptops and phones for at least 3 – 5 days without needing a recharge.”

This school bus now comes complete with a kitchen, bathroom, beds and storage. If you think the flooring looks familiar, that’s because it is. The floors are made from wood panels stripped from an old gym floor. This isn’t the first time recently that I’ve read about an old bus being remodeled into a home.
