Art Installation by Kumi Yamashita

Installation art describes an artistic genre of site-specific, three-dimensional works designed to transform the perception of a space.

Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called Land art; however the boundaries between these terms overlap. Installation artworks have been constructed in exhibition spaces such as museums and galleries, as well as public- and private spaces.

Kumi Yamashita created this art installation entitled City View, which is on permanent display at  the 2nd floor of Nanba Parks Tower, Osaka, Japan.
Commissioned by Nankai Railways Inc.

Its amazing to see that the numbers scattered on the wall, lit from the right, cast a silhouette of a woman. The beauty of the work is that it is so simple, yet the over all look is breathtaking.
